Succesfull fourth edition of Star Sale

Star Sale gets international recognition; the most expensive foal Zebalia SHB moves to the USA

On Friday 3rd September 2004 the fourth edition of the KWPN foal auction ?Star Sale foal? took place. Many spectators came to the beautiful Frisian Congress Centre in Drachten and watched 46 high quality foals change owners.

The atmosphere soon rose, for catalogue number 3, the well modelled stallion foal Zorro W, bred by W.A.van Weperen from Nietap, was auctioned by auctioneer Jaap Werners at ? 11.500,--.

At the entrance of the 6th mare foal, the well bred and full of quality Zebalia SHB (Flemming x Nimmerdor), the audience held its breath. Zebalia danced through the ring and was in the end auctioned at the price of ?15.500,--. Zebalia, bred by Minne and Nienke Hovenga from Jelsum will in the nearby future move to the stables of Mr. van der.Ploeg (Michigan, USA).

The most expensive stallion foal was the splendid Zindicator (Krack C x Vindicator), bred by the family van Essen from Marssum. Zindicator was auctioned for the nice amount of ? 13.500,--.

After Zindicator appeared the interestingly bred Zizonica O.A. (Chin Chin x Laval II) of Mr. O.Anema from Wijckel. She was sold at the price of ? 15.000,--.

We are very content with the proceedings of the auction. The average prices of the foals are higher than the year before. Seven foals were auctioned for a price of ? 10.000,-- or more. Furthermore we observe that we get more international attention. Foals are sold to the USA, England and Denmark. ?Owing to the appearance of really good quality foals of the northerly breeders, we can look back on a successful fourth edition of the auction?, mentioned chairman Gerard van Burgsteden.

The average price of the riding foals was ? 5.127,--. The average amount for mare foals was ? 4717,-- and for stallion foals ? 5660,--.

Commissioned by the northerly breeders Stare Sale foal auction is organised every year. Also this year, in the preparation, the support of the breeders was appreciable by the large number of applications for the pre-selections. Star Sale Foal Auction 2004 again can be regarded as a success by the support of the breeders, the assistants (both female and male), the public and of course the buyers.
